In their ruling, a panel of 5th Circuit judges wrote that they “reject the idea that corporations have a freewheeling First Amendment right to censor what people say,” or “muzzle speech.” Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, whose office is defending the law, lauded the ruling on Twitter, writing that tech companies could no longer “censor the political voices of ANY Texan!” The law applies to platforms with more than 50 million monthly active users.
